Naivasha

Naivasha is a town in the Rift Valley Province, in Nakuru District. The town is amply situated near a number of popular tourist attractions making it an important stopover for refueling visitors.

Naivasha is easily reachable by road from Nairobi, though chartered flights to a number of private airstrips here are available. The town is situated on the shores of Lake Naivasha. It also serves nearby farmers and agricultural communities which include workers at nearby horticultural farms such as the Oserian Flower Company.

Attractions near Naivasha Include:

Lake Naivasha: a freshwater lake home to a variety of wildlife and bird species (more than 350 different species) including; hippos and buffalo. The lake’s shores can be toured on foot and is easily reachable from the town.

Mount Longonot: one of the feature attractions near Naivasha; this young volcano is regularly visited by tourists and is popular for hiking and climbing. The mountain has a crater at the top (Menengai Crater) which has its own complete ecosystem.

Hells Gate National Park: located a short drive from Naivasha Town, this park is popular for its wildlife and interesting geographical formations. Activities at the park include; bird watching, hiking, wildlife viewing and visits to the geo-thermal springs of Olkaria.
