Zomba

Zomba is a town in southern Malawi situated to the southeast of Lilongwe. The town is the administrative capital of Zomba District. The town has its place in the Nyasaland Colony’s history and was its capital until independence in 1964 when it was replaced by Lilongwe. The city is home to the University of Malawi; the largest institute of higher learning in the country.

The town is home to a number of industries including; food processing, textiles, cement and local crafts. Zomba is one of the largest cities in Malawi home to more than 100,000 people. The city is linked to Lilongwe and other major towns by road, with buses frequently plying these routes.
