Windhoek

Windhoek is the capital city of Namibia and the largest city in the country. Home to an estimated 250, 000 people, Windhoek is the main centre for trade and commerce in the country. The city is also developing into a key tourism hub.

The Hosea Kutako International Airport situated in the city’s outskirts is presently the sole international airport in Namibia. The airport handles the bulk of international flights to the country and is the main hub for Air Namibia. Windhoek is also served by a second airport; the Eros Domestic Airport.

Tourism in Windhoek:

An easily accessible city, Windhoek is known for being one of the friendliest and most peaceful capitals in Africa. The city has low crime rates and government services here are reliable.

Besides being a major stopping point for visitors to Namibian wildlife parks, the city has a number of interesting places to visit such as; the Zoo Park, Heroes Acre, the Old Railway Station and a number of historic buildings and monuments erected during the German era in the colony here.

There are a number of airlines that offer regular flights to and from Windhoek. The city is served by the Hosea Kutako International Airport which is situated about 48 km from the city centre. This is the sole international airport in the country and is the main hub for Air Namibia.

The airline flies regularly from here to a number of domestic and international destinations including; London, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Luanda, Victoria Falls, Maun, Ondangwa, Katima Mulilo, Walvis Bay, Oranjemund, Luderitz.
